BSNL will launch the first modules of Wi-Fi based Internet access facility for vehicles later this year.
State-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is set to to roll out 4G-enabled Internet services in Indore division by next month. The operator also plans to launch a Wi-Fi based “Internet on wheels” later this year.
Survey“4G-based internet facility allowing users to download the data at the high-speed of 8MBPS will be started by May next”, BSNL general manager GC Pandey is quoted as saying.
According to the top BSNL official, the operator will launch the first modules of Wi-Fi based Internet access facility for vehicles later this year.
“BSNL’s internet-activated car kit would be available in three types, in the range of Rs 6500, Rs 27,500 and Rs 29,500 (one time payment), which comes along with a standard dial-up plan of Rs 250 per month, besides other charges on download and fixed monthly charges for the e-car facility”, Pandey added.
BSNL had recently revealed its Wi-Fi module for cars that allows people to access the Wi-Fi internet while they are travelling. BSNL believes the Wi-Fi model could see serious adoption by consumers once the technology’s benefits gain popularity.
