Black Shark 2 to launch today in India: Here’s all you need to know
HIGHLIGHTS

BlackShark 2 gaming smartphone to launch in India today.

It is the third phone from the gaming brand, after the Black Shark and Black Shark Helo.

Hot on the heels of the OnePlus 7 Pro, there's another Snapdragon 855-powered flagship phone launching in India on Monday. Only this time, it's a dedicated gaming phone — The BlackShark 2. The Xiaomi backed gaming brand will debut in India after sticking to the Chinese market since the past year. The Black Shark 2 was announced earlier this year in China and it looks every bit a gaming phone with a bold design and gamer-centric optimisations.

BlackShark 2 hardware specs

The Black Shark 2 is the third phone from the gaming brand, after the Black Shark and Black Shark Helo. The gaming phone touts the latest Snapdragon 855 along with 12GB RAM and 128GB storage. If anything, this seems like a direct challenge to the OnePlus 7 Pro which arguably is also quite capable of high FPS gaming.

The Black Shark 2 relies on vapour chamber cooling to ensure prolonged gaming sessions. There's also an RGB LED strips running down the edges. The build is also quite rugged with the designed meant to add more grip.

On the front is a notch-less 6.3-inch FHD+ AMOLED display that supports HDR+. While the refresh rate is the regular 60Hz, the Black Shark 2 supports pressure-sensitive touches, much like Apple's 3D touch. There are strereo speakers as well as a triple microphone setup to cut out noise while recording audio. Powering it all is a 4,000 mAh battery that tops up with a 27W charger.

Black Shark 2 also comes with impressive imaging capabilities. There's a 48MP sensor along with a 12MP telephoto lens with 2X zoom. On the front is a 20MP sensor.

To top this all, the Black Shark 2 also supports a host of accessories like a game-pad and more. But we're unsure as of now whether these accessories will also be sold in India.

Black Shark 2 expected price and availability

The base variant of the Black Shark 2 with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is sold at 3200 Yuan in China (roughly Rs 33,000) and goes all the way up to 4100 Yuan (roughly Rs 42,000)  for the 12GB RAM variant.

In India, the Black Shark 2 will be competing head-on with the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro. However, the brand will be operating independently of Xiaomi in India. Black Shark already has a dedicated office in Bengaluru.
