Asus ZenFone AR could be the first smartphone to support both Tango and Daydream platforms

Asus ZenFone AR, the second Tango phone has been revealed accidentally by Qualcomm ahead of its official announcement at CES 2017. Qualcomm accidentally put out the blog post which was actually meant to go live on January 4.

Google is pushing its mobile augmented reality with its Project Tango and Asus ZenFone AR seems like a more interesting device than the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro. Asus ZenFone AR is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 – the same processor found under the hood of Google's Pixel and OnePlus 3T. The use of Snapdragon 821 should allow ZenFone AR to process augmented reality apps faster than Phab 2 Pro.

Asus ZenFone AR is also the first smartphone in the world to support both Google's Tango AR and Daydream VR platform. Asus ZenFone AR, we believe to also support Daydream View headset currently supported by Google's Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones only.

While Qualcomm only posted the blog post, Twitter user Evan Blass has revealed the press renders. The device is expected to be announced later today when Asus hosts its CES press event at Las Vegas. Stay tuned for more updates about the device.
