Famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously claimed that Apple will launch a dual-SIM iPhone this year. His claims were cemented by the iOS 12 Developer Beta 5 update in which mentions of dual SIM were spotted. In a new development, a poster by China Telecom has surfaced showing an iPhone alongside two SIM card trays. In another set of images shared by the China Mobile Hong Kong on its Facebook page, the mobile telecommunication company has shown Apples with two SIM cards stuck to them, possibly implying that the Cupertino-based tech giant could launch dual-SIM iPhones in China.

Earlier this year, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the rumoured 6.1-inch Apple iPhone with an LCD display will be available in a dual SIM variant. He said that Apple is expected to launch the phone in two different variants – one with a standard single SIM slot, and another with a dual SIM slot, offering dual-SIM standby mode. According to Kuo, Apple may price the single SIM variant of the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone between $550 – $650 and the dual SIM variant might get a price tag between $650 – $750.

These claims were further hinted in the iOS 12 Developer Beta 5. A component of the system responsible for the generation of diagnostic reports was seen with references such as “second SIM status”, “second SIM tray status” and a “dual sim device”. This suggested that Apple is updating iOS to run a device with support for two SIM cards this year. Further, the “second sim tray” indicates that future iPhones may come with two physical SIM trays. People could use two SIM cards earlier as well: one regular SIM and an e-SIM.
