According to multiple leaks, Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a slightly transparent glass panel on the back. This means that parts of internal components may be visible, as we’ve seen in devices from brands like Nothing, HTC, and Xiaomi in previous years.

It’s still unclear whether Apple’s design will feature genuine internal parts or a stylised version for aesthetics, but it will still be an upgrade over the previous generation iPhones, the reports added.

If this is true, it will be Apple’s first attempt at a semi-transparent iPhone design, drawing inspiration from previous products such as the iMac G3 and iBook G3, which were known for their translucent shells. The tech giant has usually prioritised durability and refinement over drastic visual changes in the past, so the leaks about the transparent iPhone have created a lot of excitement among tech enthusiasts.

In addition to the design, Digital Chat Station claims that Apple is experimenting with a punch-hole front camera design in place of the Dynamic Island. Furthermore, the leak points to a variable aperture primary camera, a feature that has previously been seen on high-end Samsung and Huawei models, which would improve control over depth and low-light photography. The iPhone 18 Pro Max may also have a steel-cased battery for better thermal control and safety.

The iPhone 18 series, which may include the iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max, may launch in September of next year, although Apple has not yet confirmed any of the details. If these rumours are accurate, you can expect a big design change that, by the way, goes in line with the iPhone’s 20th anniversary rumours on the internet.
