A Samsung Galaxy Note 7 reportedly exploded in the hands of a six-year-old boy in Brooklyn, New York. According to a report by the New York Times, the child suffered burns and his grandmother says that he was watching videos on the phone when it caught fire. She also said that the boy is too scared to “see or go near any phones.” The family has been in contact with Samsung with regards to the incident.

Samsung has issued a recall of 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 devices worldwide, after many users reported that the phone was catching fire. After their own investigation, the company said that the fire was due to a battery cell issue. The company has also delayed the sales of the phone in India. The problem was prevalent enough that the US and Indian aviation authorities have advised flyers to not use or charge these specific phones during flight.

Besides the losses it incurred due to the recall and replacement of devices, Samsung also incurred losses in the stock market over the last few days. The company’s share price on the KRX index dropped by 3.9 percent on Friday, and subsequently fell by 7.6 percent on Monday. Further, the net loss incurred by Samsung yesterday was KRW 110,000 per share, which is about $98.24 per share. This accounts for a net loss of almost $19 billion in market value for the company.
