You can now resume your Android phone activities on your Windows PC
Microsoft is quietly turning Windows 11 into the kind of cross-device hub people have wanted for years, and the latest Insider Preview Build 26220.7271 might be its most meaningful step yet. The update introduces a new resume-from-phone capability that lets you continue what you were doing on your Android device directly on your PC. Not in a clunky, half-baked way, but in a smooth, almost invisible handoff that makes your laptop feel like an extension of your phone. For anyone who constantly jumps between screens during the day, this update will improve how they work.

Pick up your Android activity on Windows
This new build expands on Microsoft’s earlier attempt at cross-device continuity, where only Spotify supported resume. Now, certain Android phones can send app context directly to your PC through the Link to Windows app and Microsoft’s Continuity SDK. That context could be a cloud document you just opened or even the browser tab you were reading moments earlier.
The biggest upgrade comes from the M365 Copilot app. If you open an online Word, Excel or PowerPoint file on your phone, your PC can now instantly reopen the same file, either inside the installed Office apps or directly in the browser. It only works for online documents for now, since local files remain locked to your device, but the experience still feels seamless.
Support is currently limited to Samsung, Honor, Huawei, Oppo and Vivo devices. In addition to this, Vivo users also get a neat browser trick. If you were reading something on Vivo Browser, Windows 11 shows a small taskbar alert that lets you open the same tab in your default PC browser with a single click. Paired with the existing Spotify resume feature, Windows now offers three cross-device activities you can move between without any manual effort.
Copilot inside Edge also gets an update
Alongside the new continuity tools, Microsoft also revealed a major upgrade to Copilot inside Edge. The company wants to turn Copilot into a real shopping assistant for the holiday season, giving users features like price comparison, price history, cashback alerts and product insights directly inside the browser sidebar. Copilot Mode can even notify you proactively when a better deal is available on another retailer’s site.
These upgrades are currently available only in the United States, but they signal Microsoft’s larger Copilot vision. Copilot is no longer just an AI assistant, it is becoming a core part of the Windows and Edge experience, helping users shop smarter, manage documents faster and now even transition activities between devices.
