MacBook Pro 16-inch to come with Intel 9th-gen processors, is a replacement for older 15-inch model: Report
  • Apple could be replacing their 15-inch MacBook Pro with a 16-inch variant.

  • IHS Analyst, Jeff Lin says that the 16-inch model will come with Intel’s Coffee Lake-H processors

  • The 16-inch MacBook Pro may ship with a 3,072 x 1,920 display.

If you were a fan of Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Pro, prepare to be disappointed. In a recent report on, it seems that Apple is looking at phasing out the 15-inch model in favour of a brand-new 16-inch replacement. We could be seeing the launch of this latest MacBook Pro sometime later this year, during the fall.

In an investor note acquired by Forbes, IHS Markit noted that the San Cupertino giant was looking to shift their focus towards the new 16-inch MacBook Pro. Jeff Lin, IHS Analyst, says that ideally, the production cycle of the new MacBook Pro should being in September. There were already rumors of an October 2019 release date and this somewhat confirms it. He also says that these newer 16-inch models will ship with Intel’s Coffee Lake-H processors, which are still used in the current 15-inch model, and was refreshed in May. The 16-inch MacBook Pro may also come with up to 8-core configurations.

Lin seems to think that Apple is looking at the 16-inch MacBook Pro to be a direct replacement to the 15-inch model, rather than the two existing side-by-side. Lin also confirmed that the 15.4-inch model will be shuffled out through news from OEM and panel suppliers. He surmises that the older 15-inch model may be phased out by the end of November.

Well, if this is going to happen, then we should ideally be getting a few upgrades. In a report by Digitimes last week, apparently, the new MacBook Pro will come with narrower bezels, giving Apple the option of jamming in a larger screen in the same body of the 15-inch MacBook Pro. Therefore, because of this, it really makes no sense for both models to exist next to each other. There have also been other reports that state that the 16-inch MacBook Pro could ship with a 3,072 x 1,920 display.
