Unless we are living under a rock, we have all heard of and know about Intel. It is the world’s largest manufacturer of central processing units and semiconductors. And now the same Intel has big plans for India. Intel aims to boost laptop production within India and has tied up with various companies to go ahead with its plans. Let me tell you about the whole deal here.

Intel plans on enhancing and strengthening the laptop manufacturing sector in India. The company will share its great knowledge of the IT sector for this and has partnered with eight leading Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) companies and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) for the same in India.

  • Bhagwati Products Ltd
  • Dixon Technologies India Ltd
  • Kaynes Technology India Ltd
  • Optiemus Electronics Ltd
  • Panache Digilife Ltd
  • Smile Electronics Ltd
  • Syrma SGS Technology Ltd
  • VVDN Technologies Private Ltd.

Intel also informed that this might be the first time some of these companies enter the laptop manufacturing sector.

Intel says that its plan for partnering with these eight Indian companies is to allow them to deal with both domestic and global demand. It said, “This collaboration between Intel and the Indian manufacturing ecosystem is aimed at enabling them to meet both domestic and global demand.”

This plan will help increase the production and manufacturing of entry-level laptops in India. This plan will require putting into use state-of-the-art SMT lines, setting up a quality control process for components, along Benchmarking of finished products. To further this, Intel will be pitching in to support ODMs across both Semi Knocked Down (SKD) and Completely Knocked Down (CKD) processes. 

Intel has big plans with  ‘Make in India’ and will be soon hosting the India Tech Ecosystem Summit in November to reflect on the various devices that are being made in India by local companies.
