Hewlett Packard, more popularly known as HP has announced the 2020 refresh for their gaming laptops. The new machines can be configured with either a 10th generation Intel processor or a Ryzen 4000 series processor, with the choices going up to Ryzen 7. The new refresh comes with a number of notable updates and changes, along with some new things of note as well. In the Omen series, the HP 15 is refreshed and in the Pavilion series, we now have a new HP Pavilion Gaming 16.

HP Pavilion Gaming 16 Features and Specifications

The HP Pavilion Gaming 16 is the first gaming laptop from HP with a 16-inch display. The display form-factor has been gaining popularity amongst laptops aimed at content creators, but gaming is yet to pick up on this trend. The HP Pavilion Gaming 16 can be configured with up to a 10th generation Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2060 GPU. The display is a Full HD IPS-level display with 300-nits of brightness and 144Hz refresh rate.

HP Omen 15 (2020) Features and Specifications

The HP Omen 15 has also received some serious upgrades. Users will finally be able to choose between Intel and AMD, with the option of going for up to a 10th generation Intel Core i7 or a Ryzen 7 from AMD. The GPU options go all the way up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super with Max-Q design. HP is offering users the ability to configure the new HP Omen 15 with up to 32GB of DDR4 memory along with up to a 1TB SSD and dual NVMe slots for RAID. Interestingly, the new HP Omen 15 (2020) now sports a fully rotating display. Gamers can also choose between an OLED panel, a UHD panel with 120Hz refresh rate or one with a refresh rate of 300Hz with G-Sync. HP has also incorporated an IR Thermopile Sensor into the HP Omen 15 (2020) which is supposed to help with more accurate temperature readings, which are further used to better control the 12V fans for steady noise levels and better heat dissipation.

Price and Availability

The HP Pavilion Gaming 16 starts at a retail price of $799 and the HP Omen 15 (2020) will start at $999. Both the laptops will be sold via HP’s online store and are available right now in the U.S. HP has not yet announced the price and availability of these laptops for the Indian market, but we do expect an announcement coming soon. Acer has already made its Ryzen 4000-series laptop available in India, while Asus has launched its TUF Gaming A15 and Gaming A17 laptops too.
