Alienware is unveiling what seems to be a new identity for the brand and its products at this year’s CES. Dubbed Alienware Legend, the new design uses a new thermal and cooling technology to not just achieve but sustain overclocked performance. The new design features an improved AlienFX lighting system, slim bezels around the display, and a new “three-knuckle hinge” that reduces footprint but increases assembly strength. The new Legend design comes in two finishes: Lunar Light and Dark Side of the Moon.
Alienware is announcing the Area-51m, the first of its products to reflect the new Legend brand identity. According to Alienware, the Area-51m is the first ever laptop to feature Intel’s 9th Gen Core series octa-core processors. It also offers 64GB of RAM, 2.5Gbps Ethernet, upgradeable graphics and desktop processors, and a display with thin bezels and a 144Hz refresh rate. The Area-51m also features Tobii eye-tracking technology and the latest version of the Alienware Command Center.
Apart from the laptop that Alienware chooses to call “the first true desktop replacement”, the company is launching the recently announced Alienware m15 and the Alienware m17. As the model names suggest, the m15 is a 15-inch model for gamers seeking portability, while the m17 is a 17-inch model. The m15 has a starting weight of 2.1 kilogrammes, while the m17 starts at 2.6 kilogrammes.
Both the m15 and the m17 feature Intel 8th Gen Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs with dynamic CPU overclocking. According to Alienware, there’s elevated thermal headroom on offer because of the proprietary Cryo-Tech Cooling technology. The Alienware m15 comes with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 series GPUs, which feature ray tracing and programmable shading.
The Alienware Area-51m is expected to go on sale by the end of the month for a starting price of $2,549 (Rs 1,78,595 approx). The Alienware m15 and the Alienware m17 are expected to go on sale this month for a starting price of $1,379.99 (Rs 96,620 approx) and $1,649 (Rs 1,15,538 approx) respectively. The Alienware m15 sporting an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 series GPU is expected to go on sale by the end of the month for a starting price of $1,579 (Rs 1,10,633 approx).
