Yahoo Mail restores tabs feature after user complaints
The much requested Yahoo Tabs feature is back in a new and improved avatar.
Yahoo mail got a lot a criticism for removing tabs and some of the other features from its new mail interface. Now based on the users feedback Yahoo! has reintroduced the Tabs feature and according to the company it is much better than before.
Yahoo has replaced the Tabs feature with a Recent View feature that allowed users to toggle between search results, emails and drafts. Now users can choose between the recent view and tab feature according to their convenience. Yahoo has also added a ‘Preview All’ option for viewers.
Yahoo states on its official blog post, “We’re bringing back tabs, but this time, they’re a bit smarter.” Don’t worry if you cant see the new tabs feature immediately, Yahoo states that it will be rolled out in the next few days globally.
Yahoo had rolled out its new mail interface in October this year and got a major backlash from users about missing features. The new interface has a cleaner look and comes with 1TB of free storage for users. However, Yahoo received more than 5200 complaints in the next few days after its launch about possible bugs and missing emails. The biggest complaint by the users was the missing tabs and print features. Users also complained that their contact list had been automatically deleted by the system.
Last week Yahoo Mail also suffered an outage and CEO Marissa Mayer apologized for the same. Mayer added that the week long outage was unacceptable and added that “this has been a very frustrating week for our users and we are very sorry.” Mayer added last week that the service has now been restored and backlogged messages have also been delivered for almost everyone.
