Sandisk has officially launched the WD Black SN8100 NVMe SSD in the Indian market. The SSD aims to provide high-performance storage for gaming, content creation, and AI workloads. With PCIe Gen 5.0 technology, the SSD promises read speeds of up to 14,900 MB/s and write speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s, making it one of the fastest SSDs on the market.

It is available in various storage capacities, including 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and an upcoming 8TB variant. The WD Black SN8100 NVMe SSD is powered by Sandisk’s BiCS8 TLC 3D NAND technology, which promises higher power efficiency. The company even claims that this SSD is 100% more power-efficient than its PCIe Gen 4.0 predecessor, with an average power consumption of 7W or lower.

In terms of durability, the SSD has an endurance rating of up to 2,400 TBW for the 4TB model, making it ideal for heavy gaming, video editing, and machine learning. An optional heatsink variant is also available, with a passive cooling design and anodised aluminium for better thermal management. This version also includes customisable RGB lighting.

“Whether it’s for high-level gaming, professional content creation or AI applications, high-performance users now have a PCIe Gen 5.0 storage solution that matches speed with power efficiency to help them build the ultimate gaming rig or best-in-class workstation, enabling them to play and create with next-level performance and reliability,” said Eric Spanneut, vice president of devices for Sandisk. “

The WD Black SN8100 NVMe SSD is priced at Rs 17,499 for the 1TB model and Rs 18,999 for the heatsink version. Buyers interested in purchasing can do so at major IT resellers or e-commerce platforms.

It is worth noting that the 8TB variant is said to launch later this year. However, the company has not provided an official timeline yet.
