On the inaugural day of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, Apple unveiled a host of new AI features set to debut in the upcoming versions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

Among the highlights were voice transcription and AI-driven summaries for the Notes app, alongside a feature dubbed “Clean Up,” which employs AI to seamlessly remove elements from photos.

However, while Apple’s announcements garnered widespread attention, they also drew some pointed reactions from rivals, notably Samsung.

Several users noted that many of the features showcased at WWDC bore striking resemblances to existing functionalities on Android devices.

Samsung didn’t shy away from expressing its opinion on social media, offering some playful sass in response to the similarities between Apple’s announcements and existing Android features. Samsung also mocked the iPhone-maker for arriving late to the AI party.

On X, Samsung posted, “Adding ‘Apple’ doesn’t make it new or groundbreaking. Welcome to AI.”

In a separate post, Samsung said, “Moving my icons wherever I want since 2010 … isn’t that cool?”

“ICYMI: The (Apple) never falls far from the Galaxy,” another post reads.

In my opinion, Samsung’s jabs at Apple highlight the intense competition and rivalry between the two tech giants. The playful banter between Samsung and Apple not only fuels the competitive spirit but also benefits consumers, as it pushes both companies to innovate and improve their offerings.

How users react to Samsung posts

The response from users on Samsung’s posts was mixed. While some users mocked Samsung for seemingly focusing on Apple’s announcements, others praised Android for its existing features and capabilities.

One user commented, “Android lapped iOS multiple times in the last 5 years.” Meanwhile, another said, “you guys must be a really big fan of Apple for watching the event.”

“Tell me you’re jealous without telling me you’re jealous,” a user wrote.
