Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset was quite the buzz of the tech town as it was the most premium chipset offered by the company. Not so long after, Qualcomm has now announced the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, the successor of Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. This has been crafted for mid-range smartphones. 

Let me tell you about this new chipset in detail. 

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 specifications 

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset has an octa-core design with a 1+3+4 CPU core layout. Further, the chipset is based on TSMC’s 4nm process technology. Additionally, the chipset features a single prime core which is clocked at a max 2.63GHz, in addition to 3x performance cores at 2.40GHz and 4x efficiency cores at 1.8GHz. However, Qualcomm is yet to share the exact core specifications. So, we’ll have to wait and see which Kyro cores Qualcomm will incorporate.

If we compare it to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 will be 15% faster than its predecessor. The company even added that this new chipset will be 20% more power efficient. Furthermore, the GPU in the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 will be over 50% more powerful than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Speaking of AI, Qualcomm says that it has a 60% improved AI performance per watt compared to Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 will be used in next-generation mid-range smartphones. Its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor was used in Honor 90 5G, Motorola Razr 40, Realme GT Neo 5 Lite, and more. In addition to that, Qualcomm has confirmed that Honor and Vivo will use this chipset in their devices that could launch this month.
