Q-5G: BSNL 5G gets official name, launches SIM free Quantum FWA internet for enterprises

Q-5G: BSNL 5G gets official name, launches SIM free Quantum FWA internet for enterprises

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), India’s state-run telecom provider, has officially named its upcoming 5G service “Q-5G”—or Quantum 5G in the country. The announcement was made via the company’s official X account (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday. BSNL recently held a public suggestion campaign, inviting users to submit ideas for the service’s brand.

In a recent post via X, BSNL said, “You named it. We made it happen! Introducing THE BSNL Q-5G – Quantum 5G. A big THANK YOU to each and every one of you for your incredible support and enthusiastic participation.”

Alongside the Q-5g, BSNL also announced the launch of its Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service in select regions. In a separate post from BSNL UP East, the company announced that the BSNL Quantum 5G FWA service has been launched. The new Quantum 5G FWA service is set to offer high-speed internet connectivity to enterprises without requiring a SIM card. The launch page on BSNL’s official website says that the new services will offer wireless, blazing-fast, secure, reliable, and affordable connectivity.

Notably, the BSNL Quantum 5G FWA will start at an affordable price of Rs 999 for enterprise internet lease lines. Currently, the 5G FWA service is rolled out in selected cities and circles.

Meanwhile, BSNL has signed an agreement with Polycab India Limited to implement the Amended BharatNet Project across Karnataka, Goa, and Puducherry. This initiative is being funded by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the DBN (Digital Bharat Network) program to deliver high-speed broadband to all inhabited Gram Panchayats (GPs) and villages in the mentioned regions.

BSNL has installed as many as 100,000 4G towers in the past year, of which around 70,000 are currently active and performing better.
