Perplexity’s Comet browser launched in India: Here’s how you can access it and all other details
Comet integrates AI assistant across tabs for tasks like shopping and scheduling.
Android version open for pre-registration; iOS launch timeline unclear.
Currently restricted to Perplexity Pro users; free-tier access expected later.
Perplexity’s Comet browser has officially been launched in India. Confirming its availability, Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas announced that the AI-powered browser is now available for macOS and Windows users in the country starting September 22. However, there’s a catch: access is currently restricted to Perplexity Pro subscribers, leaving free-tier users out of the loop for now.
SurveyThe Comet browser, first introduced globally in July 2025, integrates Perplexity’s AI answer engine directly into the browsing experience. Its standout feature is an AI-powered sidebar assistant that stays active across tabs and projects. For instance, a user browsing multiple e-commerce sites for the same product can simply ask the assistant to identify which seller offers the fastest delivery.
How to access Perplexity’s Comet browser
According to Srinivas, the browser’s Android version has been listed on Google Play for pre-registration in India. While the exact release date remains unclear, this signals that mobile availability could follow soon. On the other hand, iOS users may have to wait longer. The Comet browser is not yet listed on the App Store, with no official word on a timeline for its release.

Beyond search and summarisation, the Comet assistant is designed to take on more agentic tasks. Early demonstrations have shown it booking meetings, converting webpages into emails, and even completing online purchases, all through simple text-based commands. This positions Comet as more than just a search-powered browser.

While the rollout is currently limited to desktop Pro subscribers, Perplexity is expected to expand access and add new features gradually.
