According to CERT-In, these flaws could allow hackers to gain unauthorised access to your computer, steal sensitive data, install malware, or even crash your system. In more severe cases, attackers could execute remote code and control parts of your computer without your permission.
The government’s warning specifically highlights issues found in the Chromium-based versions of Microsoft Edge, the browser that most users currently run. These vulnerabilities, if exploited, can lead to data theft, system disruptions, or even ransomware attacks.
Who should be concerned?
Whether you’re a student, professional, or enterprise user, your device could be vulnerable if you haven’t updated the browser recently. CERT-In has confirmed that the flaws affect Edge versions prior to 141.0.3537.57, and users still running these older versions are advised to take immediate action.
The advisory warns that not updating could leave your browser open to security breaches, potentially allowing attackers to manipulate your system settings or access confidential files.
Microsoft has yet to release any update to fix the security flaws.
