iOS 27: Apple testing smarter Siri that can process multiple tasks at once

Apple is reportedly testing a new feature that would allow Siri to handle multiple requests at once. This is something that other popular AI assistants already do. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new feature is currently being developed for the upcoming iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 updates. These updates are expected to be unveiled in June during the Worldwide Developers Conference 2026.

With the new feature, users will be able to combine several actions into one request, as per the report. For example, someone could ask Siri to check the weather, create a calendar event and send a message, all in a single prompt. Right now, Siri requires users to ask for each task separately. This limitation has made the assistant feel slower and less capable compared with newer AI assistants.

The improvement is part of Apple’s broader effort to modernise Siri with more advanced AI. The company wants the assistant to better understand context, such as information from a user’s device, personal data and even what is displayed on the screen.

For those unaware, Apple initially previewed the AI-powered Siri in 2024, but the rollout was delayed multiple times because of technical challenges.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Apple is planning to introduce a feature called Siri Extensions that would allow users to install third-party AI chatbots and use them directly within Siri. For example, if someone has Google Gemini or Claude installed on their device, they could send queries to those platforms directly through Siri. According to Gurman, this feature may have its ‘own dedicated App Store section, effectively creating an AI App Store. It will be a marketplace of sorts for third-party AI integrations.’
