Google search results to soon include real-time tweets: Reports
HIGHLIGHTS

Twitter gives Google access to its firehose of user-generated content, making it easier for Tweets to appear in search results.

Twitter has partnered with Google to display tweets in search results as soon as they are posted on the social networking site, according to reports.

Twitter will give Google access to its firehose, which will ensure that tweets become visible in Google's search results as soon as they are posted by the microblogging service's 284 million users. According to reports, the deal doesn't include any advertising revenue, so Google might pay a flat licensing fee for the data to Twitter. Spokesperson from Twitter and Google didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

In 2009, the microblogging site had struck a deal with Google for access to the social network's full live stream of user tweets. However the companies didn't renew the deal after it expired in 2011 when they failed to strike an agreement to extend the licensing agreement.

Twitter, already provides data to Microsoft Corp.’s Bing search service and Yahoo! Inc., in order to draw more people to its site.  The company has also announced deals to show advertising in Flipboard Inc.’s mobile application and with Yahoo Japan Corp.

The deal will give Twitter more exposure and an increase in user engagement. In August the site had announced a new feature that would include surface tweets for users from accounts they don't follow. Last month, the company unveiled a new 'While you were away' feature that gives the user a recap of the most important tweets they might have missed. The feature is aimed at drawing users who are infrequent on the social networking site.
