Gemini Live now supports images, videos and files on Android: More updates announced

Gemini, the AI assistant designed to simplify tasks and enhance productivity, is becoming even more versatile. At the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, several updates were announced, making Gemini more powerful and accessible on Android devices. These new features aim to improve how users interact with Gemini and integrate it into their daily lives.

Use images, videos, and files with Gemini Live

One of the most exciting updates is the ability to use images, files, and YouTube videos with Gemini Live. Known for its conversational approach, Gemini Live helps users brainstorm ideas, organise thoughts, or break down complex topics into simpler ones.

Gemini Live now lets users add visual and multimedia content to their chats. This makes conversations more dynamic and allows users to discuss their tasks with greater context.

The feature is rolling out on Samsung Galaxy S24 series and S25 series models, as well as Pixel 9 phones. Support for additional Android devices will roll out in the coming weeks. Furthermore, tools like screen sharing and live video streaming, part of Project Astra, will launch on the Samsung Galaxy S25 and Gemini’s mobile app later this year.

Enhanced extension support

Gemini is also expanding its ability to work across apps. Already capable of assisting with apps like YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, and Spotify, Gemini now supports Samsung apps on Galaxy S25 devices. These include Samsung Calendar, Notes, Reminder, and Clock.

Additionally, users can now combine multiple extensions in a single prompt. This multi-extension feature is now available to all Gemini users on web, Android, and iOS.

Easier access to Gemini

Accessing Gemini is now simpler than ever on Galaxy S25 devices. A long press on the side button instantly brings up the assistant, ready to help with tasks or respond to what’s on your screen. Advanced users will also gain access to Deep Research in the Gemini mobile app later this week.
