e-Aadhaar app to launch soon in India and here’s everything it offer

The Government of India is gearing up to roll out a new Aadhaar mobile application, designed to make it easier for citizens to update their personal details without visiting physical Aadhaar Seva Kendras. Developed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the app is expected to launch by the end of this year.

Currently, most Aadhaar updates, such as changing your name, address, or date of birth, require users to visit an enrollment or update centre. Once the new app is rolled out, these changes will be possible directly from a smartphone, offering a user-friendly and fully digital interface. Here’s what it will offer.

e-Aadhaar app features

The upcoming Aadhaar app will integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Face ID verification to ensure secure and seamless access. According to officials, biometric verification like fingerprints and iris scans will still require in-person visits, but most demographic updates will soon be available online via the app.

This shift is aimed at reducing paperwork, cutting down wait times, and minimising risks of identity fraud. Beginning in November, UIDAI will phase in these features, simplifying processes for millions of Aadhaar holders across India.

Additionally, the app will be able to auto-fetch verified documents from government databases. These include birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licences, ration cards from the PDS, and MNREGA records. UIDAI is also working to integrate electricity bill data for quicker address verification.

This will eliminate duplicate paperwork while ensuring accuracy and authenticity in every update request. With over 1.3 billion Aadhaar users in India, the new mobile application has the potential to become one of the country’s most widely used digital services.
