As per Bloomberg report, the company is exploring designs that go well beyond its familiar rectangular display. The report mentioned that Apple’s industrial design team is considering several concepts, including different screen sizes and shapes, round displays and even watches without screens. The company is also looking to expand the lineup at both the premium and budget ends.

The reported redesign effort has been in the works for around a year. The company is reportedly considering a wider range of form factors including devices with no display at all and watches with different screen proportions.
A round Apple Watch is also reportedly among the concepts that are being evaluated but unlikely to launch. Apple is also looking at products positioned above the current Apple Watch Ultra and Hermès editions, alongside more affordable options that could sit below or complement the Apple Watch SE.
Speaking of the reason, the report mentioned that screenless fitness trackers and smart rings from companies such as Fitbit and Oura are gaining popularity. Apple is also looking to put greater emphasis on health monitoring with enhanced Siri and Health app.

The immediate Apple Watch updates are said to get less updates. Apple is also preparing for the Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4 for its September launch event, with improvements focused on performance, health and fitness tracking, colours and accessories rather than a complete redesign.
