PlayStation 6 price tipped online and it may be Sony’s most expensive console yet
PS6 may cost over $1,000, making it Sony’s most expensive PlayStation console yet.
The console is expected to offer better performance with upgraded processor, graphics, and memory.
Reports suggest the PS6 could launch around 2027 or 2028, but Sony has not confirmed anything yet.
PlayStation is one of the world’s most popular gaming console brands. Like GTA 6, the PlayStation 6 is also one of the most awaited products among gamers. Rockstar Games has already announced the pre order and launch dates for GTA 6, but Sony has not shared any official details about its next console. A new leak claims the PlayStation 6 could cost more than $1,000, making it the most expensive PlayStation console so far. The report says higher hardware costs may be the main reason. If true, the PlayStation 6 would cost almost twice as much as the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, which launched in India at Rs 49,990. The leak also says prices may not fall much after launch.
SurveyPlayStation 6: Features

While the company has been tight-lipped about the features of the upcoming PlayStation series, the device is expected to house a 10-core AMD Zen 6 architecture, including 7 to 8 high-performance ‘Zen 6c’ cores for gaming alongside 2 low-power (LP) cores dedicated entirely to the operating system to clear up CPU overhead.
Furthermore, it’s also expected to come packed with AMD RDNA 5 graphics technology, which is said to deliver 3 times faster graphics performance than the current PS5 versions. Leaks also point to the device maybe bagging 30GB of high-speed GDDR7 RAM.
PS6: Launch timeline
Sony is yet to officially announce any details about the upcoming PlayStation 6. However, early reports suggest that the company could launch the console in late 2027 or early 2028.
PlayStation 6: Price
According to hardware insider KeplerL2, the PlayStation 6 now has an estimated Bill of Materials (BoM) of around $1,000, which reflects the cost of the components used to build the console. In March 2026, he stated that the cost of production stands at $750, which comes up to be around Rs 70,767. As compared to it, there are some speculations prevailing now that the cost of production has gone up by $250, which is Rs 23,583.
However, BoM is not the actual price that consumers pay at retail stores, and this cost does not factor in assembly, packaging, transportation, marketing, and retailers’ margins. Assuming that the manufacturing cost estimate is accurate, the PS6 could debut at a price range of $1,100-$1,200, equivalent to Rs 103,776-Rs 113,220, and hence considerably higher than the PS5 launch price.
Why should Sony not delay the PS6?
With the PlayStation 6 hardware design already finalised, Sony has very little room to reduce costs by pushing back the launch. The leaker also points out that any delay would simply mean releasing the same console later, without the benefit of cheaper or better components. He concluded that unless semiconductor and memory prices see a sharp and sustained decline which is highly unlikely, waiting would actually increase manufacturing costs rather than lower them. Hence, he said that an earlier launch is a more practical option if the current trend of rising component prices continues.
