Well, the next-gen is officially upon us as Microsoft and Sony have fired their respective salvos in the form of the Xbox Series X/S and the PlayStation 5. But, all is not well in the console market. From what we’ve gathered from various reports, the Xbox Series X may have run out of consoles for the rest of 2020! If you did not pick up an Xbox Series X/S at launch, you may be in for a long wait as Xbox chief financial officer Tim Stuart has stated that we could be seeing supply shortages all through the holiday season, well into 2021. Various reports even say that the shortage could last till April 2021.
At the Jefferies Interactive Entertainment Virtual Conference, Tim Stuart said, “I think we’ll continue to see supply shortages as we head into the post-holiday quarter, so Microsoft’s Q3, calendar Q1.”. So do not expect to be able to buy an Xbox Series X or Series S if you haven’t already bought it or pre-ordered it. In fact even in India, on both Amazon and Flipkart, the consoles are “Currently Unavailable” or "Sold Out". Although, on Flipkart, it seems that you can pre-order the Xbox Series S but the page lists the release date of the Series S and Series X as the 25th of December 2020. The Series X is sold out on both portals though!
If you’re looking to buy an Xbox Series X or S you may have to wait for a little bit longer than most, but in the meantime, you can check this article out. Or, if you’re more of a PS5 kind of dude, you can check out the PS5’s full FAQ that is now live.
