Horizon Hunters Gathering announced: Why this new co-op multiplayer is worth waiting for

Guerrilla Games has been a fan-favourite developer, mainly known for the Horizon franchise. The series started with the release of Horizon Zero Dawn back in 2017, and their latest game, Horizon Forbidden West, was very well received by both the fans and critics. Most recently, they released a VR title called Call of the Mountain, and after that, they even worked on a LEGO Horizon game in collaboration with Studio Gobo. Well, it looks like they are looking to expand the series even further, as they’ve officially announced a new multiplayer co-op game, Horizon Hunters Gathering. Let’s check out what we know about the game so far.

More details about Horizon Hunters Gathering

Horizon Hunters Gathering

Horizon Hunters Gathering is a co-op action game that will let up to three players team up as hunters that will then protect the world, which is under the threat of deadly machines. The concept is pretty similar to what we’ve seen from the past Horizon games. But well, instead of following a single-player storyline, this game will be a co-op multiplayer game.

The developers have revealed that the game will come with two different game modes, which include Machine Incursion, a shorter game mode, and the other mode, Cauldron Descent, which will play out a bit longer. The game will also let players choose from a bunch of different hunters that will feature different playstyles, from melee to ranged attacks.

The game is set to release on both the PS5 and PC as well. The developers have confirmed that the game will even support cross-play and cross-progression between PS5 and PC when you are logged in and save your game using the same PlayStation account.

In the PlayStation blog post, one of the developers said, ‘Multiplayer games have always been part of our studio’s DNA, and it’s where I began my own career. Bringing a co-op hunting experience into the Horizon universe is something we’ve envisioned for a long time, and we’re approaching it with care, ambition, and passion.’

When does the game come out?

So far, the developers have not shared the exact release date for the game, nor have they shared any launch timeline so far. However, they have confirmed that there will be an upcoming small-scale closed playtest that will be available by the end of February through the PlayStation Beta Program on both the PlayStation 5 and PC. It is currently live for users to sign up.
