Candy Crush Saga unlikely to be launched on Windows Phone
  • Candy Crush Saga, the popular game by developer King will not be coming on Windows Phone.

Developers of the addictive game Candy Crush Saga have reportedly have stopped the development of the Windows phone version of the game.

According to reports the game was in development for Windows Phone since January along with a number of popular games like Farm Heroes Saga from the developer. However French gaming website Pocket has reported that developer 'King' has made the decision to put all their Windows Phone projects on indefinite hold.

According to reports the decision was taken by the games developer due to the poor commercial performance of Windows Phone devices. Microsoft share in the smartphone market has been declining steadily, while Android and iOS have gained more popularity.  In the last quarter of 2013, Windows Phone’s market share was just 3.2%, down from the 3.6% it held three months earlier. A recent report by Opera has revealed that in the fourth quarter of 2013, Windows Phone generated only 0.35% of all mobile ad revenue.

This is not the first company which has decided to not launch their games on Windows Phone platform. Earlier this year, developer Supercell has stated that they had no plans to bring their two biggest hits, Clash of Clans and Hay Day, on Windows Phone.

Windows phone is already facing tough competition from Android and iOS platforms. Earlier this week, Microsoft announced a universal mobile keyboard that works with Android and iOS devices as well as Windows tablets. The keyboard will be launched for $79.95 in October. Read: Microsoft plans low cost handsets to compete with Android One
