After more than two months in theatres, Vivek Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files is finally making its way to OTT platforms. The historical-political drama, which premiered on September 5, will debut on Zee5 next week. Despite its polarising reception and several controversies, the film has continued to spark conversations for its portrayal of Bengal’s untold history.

The Bengal Files OTT release date and platform

Zee5 has officially announced that The Bengal Files will premiere on November 21, 2025. The platform shared the news with the caption, “The buried voices find their fire. Bengal’s boldest chapter is here to roar. #TheBengalFiles premiering on 21st November, on #ZEE5 #TheBengalFilesOnZEE5.”

If you have a Zee5 Premium subscription, you’ll be able to stream the movie in HD and access it via the web, mobile app, or smart TVs. Non-subscribers can sign up for Zee5’s monthly or annual plans to watch the film when it drops.

The Bengal Files OTT release: Storyline

Written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, The Bengal Files delves into one of India’s darkest and most politically charged historical events, the 1946 Great Calcutta Killings and Noakhali riots. The film seeks to uncover stories of human loss, displacement, and survival during this violent period, shedding light on a chapter often overlooked in mainstream narratives.

Despite being banned in Kolkata for its sensitive themes, the film has been praised for its ambitious storytelling and strong performances. Produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi, the movie marks the final part of Agnihotri’s The Files trilogy, following The Tashkent Files (2019) and The Kashmir Files (2022).
