SurveyHouse of the Dragon Season 3: OTT cast and release date
House of the Dragon streams on HBO and its platform, HBO Max. Season 3 is expected to premiere in June 2026 and will likely consist of eight episodes. The show was renewed shortly after Season 2 premiered on June 16, 2024. A fourth and final season is already in development and is planned for release in 2028.
House of the Dragon Season 3: Plot
Season 3 will likely move away from the slow ‘cold war’ in the Riverlands and jump into big, deadly battles. It may start with the violent Battle of the Gullet, where Jacaerys Velaryon is killed. His death breaks Rhaenyra Targaryen emotionally. After this, she becomes colder, more fearful, and less trusting as a ruler.

At the same time, Aemond Targaryen and his dragon Vhagar burn towns and lands across the Riverlands. While this chaos spreads, Rhaenyra takes the chance to capture King’s Landing. She finally sits on the Iron Throne in the Red Keep. But her victory does not feel happy. The people in the city are hungry and angry, and the new dragon riders, called the ‘Dragonseeds’, cannot be fully trusted.
The biggest and most emotional moment of the season would likely be the Battle Above the God’s Eye. In this dramatic dragon fight, Daemon Targaryen and Aemond attack each other in a deadly clash, removing two of the most dangerous men in the war. By the end of the season, the Greens are broken apart, and the Blacks have technically won. But Rhaenyra is left alone, full of grief, and even physically hurt by the Iron Throne she gave up so much to claim.
