What’s new in YouTube Music Recap 2025

This year’s Recap adds more detailed insights and new ways to explore your patterns. Once available, YouTube Music will highlight your top tracks, artists, genres and podcasts. It also builds a personalised playlist of your most-played songs, which you can save to your library.

  • Top tracks and artists, with a yearly playlist you can save
  • Top podcasts and top genres
  • A location-based view that shows where your most-listened-to artists come from. This is called Passport mode
  • A day-by-day breakdown of when you listened to particular artists
  • Gemini Q&A, which lets you submit your own questions about your listening trends
  • Google Photos integration, which pairs your favourite photos with your top songs to create a musical photo album you can share on social platforms

The Google Photos link-up is the standout addition. It turns your listening data and personal memories into ready-to-share cards, which could help Recap gain more visibility on social feeds.

YouTube Music Recap ahead of Spotify Wrapped

Google has released the 2025 Recap ahead of Spotify Wrapped, which usually lands in early December. Spotify’s 2024 edition included top artists, songs, minutes listened, an expanded genre breakdown and personality-style badges. YouTube Music reaching users first this year may help it grab attention before the busiest period for year-end music summaries.

Year-end recaps have become a key engagement tool for streaming platforms. They prompt users to revisit old favourites, reshare playlists and spend more time in the app. For Google, pushing Recap earlier and tying it to Gemini shows the company’s wider strategy of putting AI at the centre of user-facing features across its ecosystem. The new interactive summaries and Google Photos tie-ins hint at how future recaps could become more visual and more personalised.

Check your profile to see if your Recap is live. If it is not visible yet, it should appear soon as the wider rollout continues.
