Vine for Android gets a slew of new features and performance improvements.

Twitter has rolled out a major update to its Vine for Android app that brings features recently launched for its iOS version. This means Android users can now also access revining, redesign camera interface and channels.  

Twitter has introduced an exclusive feature – fast capture widget – for Vine for Android users. The widget allows users to launch the camera and begin recording right from the home screen.  

The update also brings new capture tools that allows users to shoot with new focus, grid and ghost tools. There’s also new a new mute button in the menu, which lets you watch videos without having to listen to them. Like its iOS counterpart, the latest update brings various performance improvements. Vine, Twitter’s standalone short-video sharing service, has seen a massive popularity since its launch. The service recently toppled Instagram to become top social app on Google Play store.  

To compete with Vine, Instagram recently launched its video-sharing service. This new feature is available on the Instagram versions for iOS and Android devices and has 13 new custom filters that can be applied on the 3-second-minimum videos. According to reports, Yahoo is also looking to foray into short-video sharing service. The company recently took over Qwiki video sharing app for $50 million. The acquisition is believed to help Yahoo develop a service that would compete with Twitter’s Vine application.
