App researchers have discovered code hinting at LinkedIn’s gaming project. According to app researcher Nima Owji, one concept being explored involves organising player scores based on their workplaces, potentially ranking companies by these scores.

A LinkedIn spokesperson has confirmed that the company is indeed working on gaming. However, they mentioned that there is currently no set launch date for the project.

“We’re playing with adding puzzle-based games within the LinkedIn experience to unlock a bit of fun, deepen relationships, and hopefully spark the opportunity for conversations,” the spokesperson said in a message to TechCrunch. “Stay tuned for more!”

Additionally, the spokesperson mentioned that the images shared by the researcher on X are not the most recent versions.

Microsoft, the parent company of LinkedIn, is a major player in the gaming industry. Its gaming division, comprising Xbox, Activision Blizzard, and ZeniMax, generated $7.1 billion in revenue last quarter, surpassing Windows revenue for the first time.

However, the LinkedIn spokesperson declined to comment on the extent of Microsoft’s involvement in the gaming project at LinkedIn.

Games consistently rank among the top-performing apps for mobile phones and PCs, boasting high revenues and user engagement. Among mobile users, puzzle-based casual games have emerged as one of the most popular categories in the gaming space.
