Google has launched its revamped “Google My Business App” that is meant to help small and mid-size businesses (SMBs) list themselves on Google Search and Maps. It is a free tool aimed at enabling SMBs to manage their profiles on the move, boost user engagement and manage their online listing, which could help the businesses grow. Users of the app will get to update their profile using the app and also converse with customers. The app comes with new features like a new post button, a customer tab and the bottom navigation bar. Google My Business app is available for download via the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

The above mentioned new post button will enable business profiles to stand out on Google. Using the app feature, SMBs will get to upload a photo, create an offer or an event, and they can also add it to their profile on Google for users to discover. Businesses will also be able to manage their information on Google from the profile tab and Google says that the edits they make will appear simultaneously across Maps and Search. The customer tab will allow SMBs to interact directly with customers by replying to their reviews and receiving messages. The navigation bar on the bottom of the app is supposed to aid users by providing ‘one-tap access’ to the home tab, new customers tab, and profile tab.

Speaking on the new updated version of Google My Business App, Shalini Girish, Director – Marketing Solutions, Google India said, “The new app will encourage businesses to manage their presence on Google in real time, make their profiles more appealing and interact with customers. For instance, if you’re a restaurant owner and have a packed house on a Friday night, the app allows you to create a post with a picture of the restaurant to engage with prospective customers on Maps and Search. It’s this real-time presence that we hope will go a long way in helping businesses attract new customers and bring back existing ones.”

Google has been providing services that are said to help SMBs and Digital Unlocked is one of its initiatives aimed at helping businesses gain digital skills via offline and online training module. The company says that over 360,000 small businesses were trained in the past two years. It also has a Google Primer mobile app that is designed to teach digital marketing skills and its ‘Websites with Google My Business’ is also aimed at enabling SMBs create a free, mobile optimised website in 10 regional languages. Google claims that over 800,000 Indian businesses are already using the service.
