The live video will be shared though a small video within the Messenger app itself.
Facebook has announced a new feature that lets users on Messenger instantly share live videos with each other. The feature is called Instant Video, and when activated, will let you share a video through a small window within the Messenger app itself. In a blog post, the company stated, “Instant Video is a reflection of the ubiquity of video — we simply expect to have that ability in real-time, all the time. With Instant Video, you can bring your conversations to life in the most authentic way — seamlessly and instantly. It’s perfect for sharing quick moments with friends who aren’t right by your side or making your conversations richer by seeing each other face-to-face when you are messaging.”
To use Instant Video, both users will need to have the latest version of the Messenger app installed on Android or iOS. Then, if both are viewing the chat at the same time, the video icon on the top-right corner will start pulsing, and tapping it will start the live video. The audio is turned off by default, but you can turn it on if you want. Recipients can also share videos back, if they want. This move follows Facebook's introduction of video calling on Messenger last year.
