Here's how the new flagship smartphones from Samsung, LG and Sony stack up against each other

Samsung launched its new flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8 yesterday. As we’ve come to expect from the company’s flagship series, the device is packed with the latest technology available currently, including the latest mobile processors. However, Samsung isn’t the only manufacturer to have unveiled its flagship smartphone. On the other side you have the LG G6 and Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium, both of which were unveiled at MWC 2017. Here’s how the three devices stack up against each other.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium offers the smallest display of the three smartphones at 5.5-inches. While it may be small, it is also the only one amongst the three to offer a 4K HDR display. By comparison, the Galaxy S8 offers a 5.8-inch QHD display, while the LG G6 offers a 5.7-inch QHD display.

While both the Galaxy S8 and the Xperia XZ Premium are powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 platform, LG opted to use the last generation Snapdragon 821 platform. However, all three devices offer 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of inbuilt storage.

In the camera department, Samsung has introduced an upgraded version of the 12MP rear camera found on the Galaxy S7 and, which were launched last year. However, the new device offers an 8MP front camera with an f/1.7 aperture lens and smart auto-focus. Meanwhile, LG has decided to stick with a dual-rear camera setup, with two 13MP units, one with a 125 degree wide angle lens. Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium offers the biggest cameras in terms of megapixel size with a 19MP camera at the back, while at the front is a 13MP camera. Further, Sony's smartphone also offers slo-mo videos at 960fps.

Here’s how the three devices compare against each other.
