Digit Zero1 Awards and Digit Best Buy Awards 2022: Best Premium Thin and Light Laptop
HIGHLIGHTS

Here are the winners of the Digit Zero1 and Best Buy Awards for the Best Performing Premium Thin and Light Laptops of 2022

The Lenovo Yoga 9 bagged the Digit Zero1 Award 2022 in this category amidst fierce competition

The Xiaomi Notebook Pro 120G clinched the Digit Best Buy Award 2022 for offering the best price-to-performance ratio

A premium thin and light laptop is a laptop that can offer you both productivity and portability. These laptops are lightweight and slim, however, they also come packed with powerful hardware inside their slim bodies. Pulling this off is no easy feat, yet we've seen some brands coming out with thin and light laptops year after year, managing to improve them and somehow fit even more power into these machines. These machines can handle intense workloads, and are the go-to machines for creators on the go. Our winner and runner up come from two brands who have been in the premium thin and light game for a long time, so it doesn't really come as all that much of a surprise. With that said, let's start things off with our Digit Zero1 Award winner for the best performing Premium Thin and Light laptop!

Digit Zero1 Award Winner: Lenovo Yoga 9 (14IAP7) (Buy Here)

Digit Zero1 Award Winner: Lenovo Yoga 9

Price: ₹1,35,200

Lenovo’s Yoga lineup of laptops has always been a favourite when it comes to convertible thin and lights in the market. The Lenovo Yoga 9 is an all-rounder 2-in-1 which offers great performance across the board with some solid hardware under the hood, including a 12th gen Intel Core i7-1280P which can compete with some H variant processors as well while still being energy efficient and offering decent battery life. They've made some design changes over the previous Yoga laptops which actually makes it more comfortable to hold now, such as with the rounded edges. Naturally, most laptops in this segment do not come with dedicated GPUs, neither does the Yoga 9. While it could still handle light gaming considering Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics are pretty decent, it should have absolutely no trouble with just about everything else you throw at it making it an excellent portable creator machine. Of course, complementing the specs under the hood, you have a fantastic 4K display as well, which offers good brightness and colour accuracy. Keeping all of the above in mind, and taking our benchmarks into consideration, the Yoga 9 is not only the best performing 2-in-1 laptop of 2022, but also our Digit Zero1 Award Winner for the best performing Thin and Light Laptop in 2022.

Runner-up: DELL XPS 13 Plus 9320 (Buy Here)

Price: ₹1,79,990

Much like Lenovo's Yoga lineup, the XPS lineup from Dell is also a favourite in the thin and light creator laptop segment. The new Dell XPS 13 Plus from Dell stays pretty much in line with the XPS lineup of laptops when it comes to aesthetics, but there are some immediately noticeable changes with the new XPS 13 Plus. The first of which is noticeable as soon as you open the laptop. They've done away with the chiclet style keyboard and opted for a more traditional keyboard with decent travel and feedback; a welcome change. They've also done away with traditional function keys, instead you've got a touch bar above the keyboard. The accompanying OLED display is good, but falls slightly short of the display on the Yoga 9 when it comes to colour accuracy. The variant we got for the Zero1 Awards came with an Intel Core i7-1260P, which is again, slightly weaker than the i7-1280P in the Yoga 9 and that reflected in our benchmarks as well. However, Dell has put in an effort to wring more performance out of the XPS 13 Plus, including a performance mode that makes the laptop fans faster (and louder), but this impacts overall battery life as well. They've also done away with just about all I/O ports save two type-C ports. Even though they’re Thunderbolt ports (which are quite versatile), the lack of options was felt. Despite all this, the Dell XPS 13 Plus certainly packs a punch, which is why the Dell XPS 13 Plus is our Digit Zero1 Runner-up for best performing Thin and Light laptop.

Digit Best Buy Award 2022 Winner: Xiaomi Notebook Pro 120G (Buy Here)

Digit Best Buy Award 2022 Winner: Xiaomi Notebook Pro 120G

Price: ₹74,999

We were honestly surprised at the performance you could get out of the Xiaomi NoteBook Pro 120G at its price of ₹74,999. This includes the specs under the hood; the 12th gen Intel Core i5-12450H, which can easily compete with P and U variant processors which come in laptops that are a lot more pricier, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 512GB of NVMe SSD storage. However, the Xiaomi NoteBook Pro 120G also comes with a dedicated GPU in the NVIDIA GeForce MX550 in addition to Intel UHD graphics. You're certainly not going to be doing any heavy duty rendering or gaming on this, but it should be able to handle light tasks no problem. You've got decent I/O port offerings, a decent keyboard and trackpad, and a surprisingly colour accurate 2.5K display with a 120Hz refresh rate. While the display may not be as good as our winner and runner up, it's still a very good display, especially if you consider the price. The laptop offers decent battery performance as well, and comes with a 100W Type-C power adapter, which can charge up to 50 percent in around half an hour. The build quality is also good, featuring aircraft grade aluminium. There really isn't much else we can say about the Xiaomi NoteBook Pro 120G other than it is excellent value for money and deserves our Digit Best Buy Award for the Premium Thin and Light Laptop category.
