Young adults face big career risk due to AI, says Leverage Edu founder Akshay Chaturvedi

While the world focuses on how AI might replace jobs, Akshay Chaturvedi, founder of Leverage Edu, sees this as a more specific risk that could affect young adults. According to him, the real challenge isn’t the children in school today; rather, it’s the middle generation aged 17 to 22.

Akshay says that young adults in the category have been caught in a transition period where they are left nowhere due to the rapid developments of AI. Unlike 5-to-12-year-olds who are already building games and coding their own apps as if it were a second language, the 17-to-22 age crowd are facing challenges, as they are now having to work harder to integrate AI into their career paths or risk having no options at all.

At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, I got a chance to sit down with Akshay and had an insightful conversation with him. We spoke about the issues the middle generation is facing as of today and how Leverage Edu is looking to solve them. Without wasting much time, let’s take a look at what he said.

What exactly does Leverage Edu do?

Leverage Edu

First of all, I went on a deep dive to understand with Akshay what exactly Leverage Edu does. To which I got to learn that Leverage as a platform manages the entire journey for a student who’s willing to move abroad for studies.

They assist students across 17 different countries, including regions in South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Not only that, but Akshay explained how the platform is a one-stop solution for students, as they go beyond just helping students pick a school. The platform also handles basic yet essential things like education loans, housing, internships, and even remittance.

How is Leverage Edu adding AI to their services?

In a world where AI has become a buzzword, it is also important to understand exactly how a platform integrates AI into their working. Akshay explained to me that Leverage has been working on integrating AI into the core, and they’ve found success using it.

He explained that the AI added to the platform helps students figure out exactly which programme and university mix will lead to a specific job and how much that job will pay to cover their loans. A very good metric for anyone looking to calculate the ROI of moving abroad.

Not only that, but Akshay also added that they have even worked with universities to smoothen out the process on their side. They’ve deployed credibility interview AI for over 40 global universities, allowing AI to conduct initial student interviews and score them for eligibility.

The Vasu AI Strategy

Coming back to how exactly Leverage is looking to solve the adoption problem for the young adults aged from 17 to 22, Akshay had a very interesting insight. He shared that rather than building a new app, instead, they’ve opted to build Vasu AI, a framework that operates directly within WhatsApp Messenger.

As per him, by adding an AI agent as a member of a WhatsApp group, Leverage would allow students and consultants to query application statuses, get career advice, and manage referrals in an interface they already use daily. It turns a complicated AI tool into a simple conversation, bridging the gap for a lot of people.
