How to install the macOS Big Sur Public Beta

Apple announced a major refresh to macOS called “Big Sur” at WWDC 2020. This is the biggest design update to macOS since MacOS X. Click here to see everything new with macOS Big Sur. The final release of Big Sur is expected this fall, but you can join the public beta to enjoy all new features and UI design updates. Here’s how to install the macOS Big Sur Public Beta on your Apple laptops:

How to install the macOS Big Sur Public Beta

• On your Mac, open Safari
• Head to developer.apple.com and log in to Apple Developer. If you haven’t downloaded any beta before, you will need to sign up to Apple Developer.
• Click on ‘Enroll your Device’ 
• Choose macOS
• Scroll down and click on ‘Download the macOS Public Beta Access Utility’
• Choose ‘Allow’
• Open your Downloads folder and double click on beta utility.dmg
• Double Click the .pkg installer and follow the prompts
• Once done, open System Preferences on your Mac.
• Click on ‘Software Update’
• Here, the macOS Big Sur public beta should be ready to download and install.
• Click on ‘Download’ and ‘Install’

Within a few moments, the update should have installed and you can then enjoy Big Sur on your Mac.
