25 years of excellence..and what’s next for Digit
Twenty-five years ago, the technological landscape was a vastly different world. The internet was a largely unfamiliar frontier and mobiles phones were luxury bricks reserved for the few. It was in this era of curiosity that Digit was born. I was still in school — completely unaware that I will be celebrating this milestone as the Editor of Digit 25 years later. Honestly, I am struck by an overwhelming sense of pride, gratitude and exhilarating anticipation.
SurveyFor a quarter of a century, Digit has we have lived the technology revolution. We have cataloged it in more ways than one and helped define its trajectory. We chose a harder, more ambitious path: trendsetting through deep, analytical and uncompromising tech journalism. Our pages were setting the benchmark for what comprehensive technology analysis should look like. We guided millions of consumers through the confusing transitions from optical discs to cloud storage, from desktop towers to pocket-sized supercomputers, and from basic software utilities to complex ecosystem architectures.
At the absolute core of Digit’s identity, its beating heart, is our Test Labs. Our voice remains fiercely independent, thoroughly objective and entirely uncompromised. Over the last two and a half decades, this unwavering commitment to truth has been both our greatest badge of honor and our most frequent source of friction.
Our data-backed, objective reviews have sparked intense, sometimes fiery arguments and debates. We have had tense confrontations with global tech giants who were unhappy with a low score, and we have navigated difficult internal debates. Yet, through every storm, our editorial integrity remained non-negotiable.
I think most brands today realise that a positive review from Digit needs to be earned through engineering excellence. This legacy of trust is our most cherished asset, and it is the primary reason why tech enthusiasts continue to turn to us when they need an honest, authoritative opinion.
However, a magazine that chronicles disruption must be willing to disrupt itself. As reader habits migrated from ink on paper to pixels on screens, Digit successfully underwent a massive transformation. We aggressively expanded and reinvented ourselves within the video and social media ecosystems. We took the same rigorous analytical DNA that defined our print pages and translated it into highly engaging, trendy, and snackable digital content.
Whether through deep-dive YouTube video reviews, interactive social media breakdowns, or real-time event coverage, we have met our audience wherever they choose to consume information, ensuring Digit remains vibrant and relevant to a whole new generation of digital natives.
The Digit Zero1 Awards are universally recognised as the ultimate, definitive accolade for engineering excellence, awarded purely on performance metrics rather than market popularity. Similarly, SKOAR! has evolved from a gaming supplement into an independent powerhouse, capturing the imagination of gaming enthusiasts across the country.
Now, as we celebrate this historic milestone, the conversations around Artificial Intelligence have moved from sci-fi fantasy to everyday reality, transforming how we work, create and live. As we enter this next stage of growth, I am incredibly proud and happy to officially announce the launch of Digit AI — a project that is very close to my heart.
The editorial and creative teams have done some truly fantastic work on this initiative over the last few months. Digit AI is designed to be the definitive hub for everything related to this cognitive revolution, tracking how machine learning, LLMs and neural processing are reshaping human capability. I say this with absolute certainty: the sky is the limit for Digit AI and it will fundamentally change how technology intelligence is analysed and delivered.
But our celebration of the future does not stop there. Technology has completely permeated our households, making the division between computing devices and home appliances entirely obsolete. To address this, we are proud to announce that we are hosting India’s only and biggest Appliance Awards this year. Digit India’s Top Appliance Awards will bring together the most influential and authoritative voices in the consumer electronics and home appliance ecosystems. It will provide an unprecedented platform to recognise, celebrate and honor the true innovators who are making our living spaces smarter, more efficient and hyper-connected.
To our readers, viewers, in-house experts and partners: thank you for being an integral part of this extraordinary journey. The first twenty-five years were just the beginning. The future is unfolding right now, and Digit will be there to chronicle every single breakthrough.
