MediaTek T750 chipset announced for wireless routers and mobile hotspots

The T750 supports 5G connectivity offering high-speed Internet

The T750 delivers high-speed internet across sub-6GHz 5G networks

MediaTek has announced a new low-power T750G 5G chipset to power wireless routers and CPEs (customer-premises equipment) that brings high-speed connectivity to homes, business and more. The T750 5G chipset is capable of delivering 5G broadband for sub-6GHz frequencies.

The MediaTek T750 5G chipset has been designed on a 7nm fabrication process and comes with a dedicated 5G radio and quad-core Arm CPU. “We are extending our 5G leadership beyond the smartphone segment with the T750 chipset, opening up new markets for broadband operators and device makers, and helping consumers – no matter where they live – to experience all the advantages of 5G connectivity,” said JC Hsu, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of MediaTek’s wireless communications business unit.

Some features of the MediaTek T750 5G chip include the fact that it supports both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) sub 6GHz 5G networks. It comes with an embedded GPU and display drivers that support upto 720p HD display. Additionally, the T750 chip has four PCIe ports for external Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The T750 5G chip comes with two-component carrier aggregation (2CC CA) for extended coverage for indoor and outdoor wireless devices like routers and mobile hotspots. “MediaTek’s 5G chipsets for FWA routers will certainly fulfil the market demand as well as accelerate the competition in the FWA CPE ecosystem. In addition, the support of sub-6GHz band is a perfect solution for many of the operators planning to achieve wide service coverage in a short time frame,” said Khin Sandi Lynn, industry analyst from ABI Research.

MediaTek says that the T750 offers a 5G device that users can self-install without going through the hassles of fixed-line broadband installation. The T750 also provides 5G speeds out-of-the-box and comes pre-installed with software drivers to distribute high-speed 5G internet to various devices.
