Redmi recently announced its Redmi Note 7 smartphone in China that is also being teased to soon make its way to India. However, it seems that the company is readying another smartphone with an in-display fingerprint sensor that could be announced on February 15 in China. As per Playful Droid, a teaser poster of a handset called Redmi X is being circulated on Weibo and the caption on the image directly translates to “national screen fingerprint scanner mobile phone.” This suggests that Redmi might be planning to launch a new smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner and could be priced competitively.

While there is no precise information about the Redmi X, it is expected to pack faster hardware than the Redmi Note 7. It could be launched running on the Snapdragon 710 SoC or it could be the Redmi Note 7 Pro that is expected to be launched next month with a Snapdragon 675 chipset and plus a 48MP sensor by Sony. However, we suggest that you take the information with a pinch of salt since the image was not posted by the company.

Xiaomi previously showcased a smartphone with a larger in-display fingerprint sensor that is said to be 50.2 mm x 25mm in size. The company’s President and Co-founder Lin Bin showcased a prototype smartphone in a new video. Bin showed off the device with an in-display fingerprint sensor, which seems to be embedded underneath a wider area of the display. The video suggested that the large in-display fingerprint sensor area works well and is quick in unlocking the device, even when one tries to unlock the phone without looking at it. The prototype phone used in the video demo seems like the Mi 8, but it could have very well been a prototype, Redmi X.

Redmi is also speculated to be working on a Redmi Go smartphone that could be announced running on Android Oreo (Go Edition). The phone is expected to be first launched in the Philippines as the company has been teasing it in the country. Recently, an e-commerce platform in the Philippines accidentally listed the handset with complete specs but soon took the page down. Leaked render and specs of the phone suggest that the device could be similar to the Redmi 5A in terms of design and sport a 16:9 display aspect ratio.

The Redmi Go might feature a 5-inch LCD HD display with a 1280x720p resolution and it could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425 SoC. The Android Go phone is said to come with 1GB RAM, coupled with 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. In terms of optics, it could feature an 8MP single rear camera on the back and a 5MP sensor on the front. The handset was listed with a 3,000mAh battery and a micro-USB charging port.
