HIGHLIGHTS

The OnePlus CEO has shared fresh camera samples captured from the OnePlus 6 showing off the imaging capabilities of the device.

OnePlus 6 will be unveiled officially on May 17 in India and ahead of the official launch, the company’s CEO, Pete Lau has again shared some camera samples captured from the device. Lau has posted some photos demonstrating the camera’s prowess in bright daylight, with multiple colours in the frame and in an image captured in low-lighting conditions on Weibo. Same as last time, OnePlus has removed the meta-data from the images and no details could be obtained from them. Since there are no RAW images, it’s hard to judge the performance of the camera. The low-light image looks interesting but we will reserve our final verdict for when we review the smartphone.

Information of the camera setup on the OnePlus 6 was recently leaked online when the device was listed briefly on the Amazon Germany website. It reportedly features a 16MP + 20MP main sensors on the rear and it is also confirmed to come with optical image stabilisation (OIS), slow-motion, and portrait mode as well. Front camera specs of the OnePlus 6 were not mentioned in the listing.

The OnePlus 6 is reported to feature a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a 2280 x 1080p resolution and sports a notch on top of its display. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC and is expected to be launched in 6GB/8GB RAM models with 64GB/128GB/256GB internal storage variants. The company will be hosting special pop-events around the globe including eight cities in India where users will be able to experience and buy the device. The events will be held in Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. The event will take place between 3:30 PM and 8MP on May 21, and between 11 AM and 7MP on May 22. You can more details about the venues and more here.

The latest Android P public beta will also be available on the OnePlus 6 and customers will be able to flash it and experience it on the device.
