Qualcomm, ZTE partner to advance 5G cloud gaming on live networks

Qualcomm has announced a string developments at MWC Shanghai. The first announcement is the partenership of Qualcomm and ZTE for Advanced 5G Cloud Gaming on Live Networks. In the second announcement, the company said that its flagship Snapdragon 855 has become the first mobile SoC to receive Smart Card Equivalent Security Certification. The San Diego-based comapny has also announced 16 design wins on latest LTE IoT chipset, and it has collaborated with Tencent QQ Collaborate to bring watch QQ experiences to Snapdragon Wear Platforms.

Qualcomm and ZTE to advance 5G Cloud Gaming on Live Networks

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, has announced a joint demonstration with ZTE of 5G-powered cloud gaming on a live 5G network. The demonstration – which utilizes the cloud gaming solutions from Tencent Instant Play on 5G smartphones from OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi and ZTE – aims to demonstrate that console-quality mobile gaming experiences are achievable over live 5G networks and show the growth opportunity for the cloud-gaming ecosystem. The demos will use China Telecom’s live 5G network, ZTE’s 5G NR commercial system infrastructure, and 5G commercial smartphones featuring the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform with the Snapdragon X50 5G Modem with integrated RF transceiver and Qualcomm Technologies’ RF Front-End (RFFE) solutions.

Secure Processing Unit can run High Assurance Applications Previously Only Performed by External Security Chips, Saving OEMs Bill of Materials Cost

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated has announced the Qualcomm Secure Processing Unit, an on-die secure element recently launched as part of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform, has received Common Criteria EAL-4+ security certification, the gold standard for smart card hardware security assurance and testing. The internationally recognised certification makes the Snapdragon 855 the first mobile SoC (System on Chip) to attain smart card levels of security assurance. The integrated Qualcomm Secure Processing Unit enables Qualcomm Technologies’ OEM customers to save on Bill of Materials (BOM) cost without sacrificing security and offers the performance and power improvements that come with integration into the leading process node.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Platforms now powering more than 30 4G LTE connected Smartwatches for Kids around the world

Today, at Mobile World Congress Shanghai, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, and Tencent QQ announced Watch QQ, an optimized version of QQ for smartwatches. Tencent QQ’s Watch QQ platform will bring the popular QQ social service, one of China’s largest, to kid wearables powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Platforms. The fast growing QQ social platform is favored by Chinese young people, and provides instant messaging, news, entertainment and payment functions to more than 800 million users.
