New OnePlus TV covers 93 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut

New OnePlus TV covers 93 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut
HIGHLIGHTS

OnePlus Founder and CEO, Pete Lau took to Twitter to highlight the 93% DCI-P3 colour space of the OnePlus TV.

OnePlus is set to launch new TVs on July 2.

The company is expected to foray into the 32-inch and 43-inch display size.

OnePlus Founder and CEO, Pete Lau has taken to Twitter to highlight the colour space the upcoming OnePlus TV will support. His tweet reads, “Our new Cinematic Display has earned its name with an exceptional DCI-P3 93% colour gamut, one of the fullest, most vivid displays of colour out there. #SmarterTV”. To put things into perspective, the 93 percent DCI-P3 colour space is found on premium TVs like the Sony X900F and LG SM 9000 (NanoCell TV). These aren't budget TVs so it is possible that we can expect a flagship TV from OnePlus boasting of flagship features.

Remember, OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus TV will start under Rs 20,000 and that could be for the entry-level 32-inch variant. There is also a 43-inch variant speculated to launch and if the Bluetooth certification is anything to go by, then we could see a 55-inch flagship TV. Launching three TVs makes sense as OnePlus is already experienced in the 55-inch TV space with the launch of the Q1 and Q1 Pro in 2019 and could stir up the market in the large-screen segment if they price the product right. The 32 and 43-inch segments are the hottest in India and this is where OnePlus has the potential to sell higher volume TVs and grab some market share from other budget players like Xiaomi, realme, Kodak and more.

"In 2020, we aim to further enhance the OnePlus connected ecosystem experience. We look forward to offering a wider range of smart TVs that embody our burdenless technology experience, and also provide a truly seamless smart TV experience for our community at an accessible price range,” said Pete Lau, Founder and CEO, OnePlus, “We believe the new range of OnePlus TVs will redefine the premium experience in their respective price segments by providing unparalleled quality, coupled with best-in-class displays and premium design.”

It will be interesting to see OnePlus stir up the TV market. If the 93 percent DCI-P3 colour space is available on the 32-inch and or 43-inch TV, it will definitely make things interesting for those looking for a 43-inch TV and want good picture quality. However, we will have to wait for the OnePlus to unveil their upcoming TVs on July 2, 2020, to know all the details.
