In its latest financial report, Vi announced that it will start rolling out its 5G services in April 2025. However, the telecom company has yet to share an exact launch date. Initially, the 5G network will be available in cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Bengaluru, and Patna, with more locations expected to follow. This rollout comes after Vi fulfilled its Minimum Rollout Obligation set by the government in December 2024, deploying 5G in 17 circles.

Vi 5G speed and spectrum

Although Vi has yet to reveal its commercial 5G speeds, previous trials indicate promising performance. In 2022, the company achieved a peak download speed of 5.92 Gbps in Pune and 1.2 Gbps at Bengaluru’s MG Road Metro Station. This time, Vi is expected to use a mix of 3.5GHz (C-band) and 1,800MHz spectrum for its initial rollouts.

Plans and pricing

The prices of Vi’s 5G plans are also going to be competitive. The company hinted that its 5G plans may be up to 15% cheaper than Jio and Airtel’s entry-level plans. This could lead to another price war in the telecom industry once Vi officially launches its 5G network.

We will keep you posted about any other details once the company shares it. Now even Vi customers will be able to enjoy high-speed data and 5G networks.
