Xiaomi claims over 2 million people have expressed interest in today's sale of the Redmi 4

Xiaomi Redmi 4, the successor to Chinese smartphone maker's Redmi 3S series will go on its first flash sale today. The handset will be available starting 12 noon from Amazon India and Mi.com. Ahead of the sale, Amazon India revealed various launch offers where Yes Bank Credit or Debit card users get Rs 500 cashback.

Other offers include up to Rs 5000 off on flights and hotel bookings on goibibo and 45GB free data for 5 months from Vodafone. Amazon is also offering Rs 200 promotional credit for Kindle Books to those purchasing the device from its e-commerce platform. On the accessories front, Xiaomi's original Mi cases start at Rs 349 and Mi headphones will start at Rs 599.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 was launched in India on May 16 and was made available exclusively from Mi Home stores on May 20. Manu Jain, Xiaomi India Managing Director, tweeted that the store did record sales and hit revenues of nearly 5 crore rupees in just 12 hours. He also added that over 2 million people have expressed interest in today's sale of the Redmi 4.

To recall, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 features a 5-inch 720p HD display and is powered by Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 435 chipset. The handset comes in three different storage options: 2GB RAM, 16GB storage variant priced at Rs 6,999, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage variant priced at Rs 8,999 and 4GB RAM, 64GB storage variant priced at Rs 10,999. All three support expandable storage up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

The Redmi 4 features a 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus and f/2.0 aperture. The front camera offers 5MP resolution with f/2.2 aperture and support for 36 beauty filters. It sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and offers connectivity options like dual-band WiFi 802.11 b/g/n with WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with A-GPS and Glonass. There is also an infrared sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 will be available in Gold and Black colour options. Xiaomi claims to have sold over 4 million Redmi 3S smartphones in India since its launch. With the Redmi 4, the company would be hoping to replicate its own success.Buy Redmi 4 from amazon starting from Rs 6999.
