Vivo has announced two new smartphones in its X family of devices. After teasing the device on Weibo, Vivo X9 and X9 Plus are now official and are bringing the dual rear camera setup to the front.

Vivo X9 and X9 arrive alongside the 2016 flagship Xplay6 device, which borrows design cues from Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Vivo X9 and X9 Plus' highlight is the use of a 20MP primary camera paired with an 8MP secondary camera in the front. Vivo says this camera setup helps in producing professional bokeh effect. The 20MP camera module used here is a 1/2.8" Sony IMX376 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. Vivo X9 and X9 Plus are mid-range smartphones that come alongside the launch of Vivo V5 in India.

Vivo X9 is the most basic of the two with a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display and is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor. The smartphone comes with 4GB and 64GB expandable storage. The device is 7mm thick and weighs 154 grams. The smartphone is backed by a decent 3,050mAh battery.

Vivo X9 Plus, on the other hand, features a larger 5.88-inch Full HD display and gets Qualcomm's Snapdragon 653 processor. Under the hood, there is 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and a beefier 4000mAh battery. The rear camera on both X9 and X9 Plus is a 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and a single LED flash. The Dual SIM smartphones offer 4G VoLTE support and also an AKM4376 DAC for Hi-Fi audio. The fingerprint sensor is embedded into the Home button.

Vivo X9 and X9 Plus will be available in gold and rose gold colour variants. The X9 starts at 2,798 Yuan (approximately Rs 27,980) in China. Vivo has not announced the price of X9 Plus yet and plans to reveal more info on December 26.
