Upcoming Sony Xperia XA tipped to retain no-bezel design

Upcoming Sony Xperia XA tipped to retain no-bezel design
HIGHLIGHTS

The Sony Xperia XA was one of the best-looking smartphones launched in 2016, but failed in terms of performance and other ratings.

The Sony Xperia XA is a beautiful smartphone, and all of us have agreed to this. While it retained the essence of Sony’s established Xperia design language, a slimmer profile, smooth curved glass, meticulous symmetry and a bleeding edge display made it rank among the best-looking smartphones in our world today. Keeping up with this, a new set of renders point at the 2017 edition of the Sony Xperia XA, showing off the no-bezel design along with a chassis similar to the Sony Xperia XZ.

The renders also reveal the dimensions of the new device, which stands at 145mm tall, 66.8mm wide and 7.99mm thin. In comparison, the present Sony Xperia XA is 144mm tall, is exactly as wide, and is 7.9mm thin. The marginally larger chassis is possibly because of Sony lending the Xperia XZ’s design to the XA lineup, which previously had a seamless, flat body. With the new design, the phone may get the flat plates of the XZ, while retaining the overall look and feel of its 2016 edition. It is also expected to get gentle curves on either sides, and a USB-C port instead of a standard USB.

The USB-C port will be a welcome addition, making the new phone one of the few mid-range devices sporting the reversible port. The Xperia XA may still not get a fingerprint sensor, if this rumour holds true. It is also said to retain the 5-inch display size from the present Xperia XA. The 2016 edition of the Sony Xperia XA housed a 5-inch HD display with the MediaTek Helio P10 SoC, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB native storage. It had a 13MP primary camera with Sony’s PHAF technology, and even an 8MP autofocus front camera. A 2300mAh battery powered the entire package.

As of now, there are no information on how the new edition of the Xperia XA will shape up. Sony has also not decided on the name of the device, so we aren’t entirely sure of when or how this device will take shape. However, as with all leaks nowadays, we’ll hopefully hear more about this one, soon. Stay tuned, for more.
