According to recent reports, Apple is developing a special anniversary iPhone with a fresh new design to celebrate the 20 years of the device. The company is reportedly aiming for a phone with glass edges that smoothly curve into the display from all four sides.

Aside from that, some reports also claim that Apple has already tested prototypes with almost no visible bezels around the screen. If the reports are to be trusted, then the upcoming anniversary model may feature only a thin metal strip along the sides where the buttons are placed, ensuring a much cleaner and modern look with the device when compared to current iPhones.

Apple is also said to be trying to remove all cutouts from the display, which means that the front camera and Face ID system could move under the screen. However, it is still unclear if the company will achieve this goal with the rumoured anniversary version of the device that is reported to launch in the fall of the year 2027.

Big iPhone changes expected before 2027

However, before the anniversary iPhone arrives, Apple is expected to launch several other models, including the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max and Apple’s first foldable iPhone. The devices could make their debut globally in September 2026.

Furthermore, as per the new launch strategy by Apple, the Cupertino giant may also introduce the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and the second-generation iPhone Air around March 2027.

For the users who upgrade every year, the changes mentioned above may not matter much. But if you’re someone who usually uses the iPhone for three to four years, then you may benefit by waiting. If Apple delivers on these reported plans, the 20th anniversary iPhone could become one of the company’s biggest upgrades in a long time.
