The latest Nexus 6P has everything, but what about call quality?

Users of Google’s flagship Nexus device, the 6P are complaining of poor call quality from the smartphone. During the course of our review, we faced some issues with the call quality as well.

Google’s product forums are flooded with complaints that the Nexus 6P is facing issues with the call quality. Huawei makes the flagship smartphone for Google. The problem seems to be persistent with the on-board microphone. The call quality from the phone is muffled, low quality, and sometimes inaudible to the person at the other end.  Information circulating the Internet suggests that covering the rear microphone resolves the problem where as others say that covering the rear microphone causes the problem. The rear microphone is used for noise cancelation. While reviewing the device we also faced some call quality issues with the Nexus 6P. Holding the device between the ear and the shoulder (to free the hands to perform other tasks) left audio inaudible to the person at the other end. 

Information circulating the Internet suggests that the issue is a software bug and can be resolved with an update. If the problem turns out to be with the hardware of the smartphone, then Google and Huawei are in for a large number of units that will need to be replaced. Google’s Nexus 6P has received great reviews around the world for being a good durable Android device for those looking for a stock Android experience. There have however been reports that the Nexus 6P bends and the rear panel housing the camera, which is made of glass, has also been reported to crack. 

No phone is perfect with its build, but there are times when a smartphone may just save your life. In the recent attack on Paris, a Samsung Galaxy smartphones saved a person from shrapnel that was sent his way during the explosion.
